Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Name Honored at Al Areen Nature Reserve

 

Manama, December 21, 2025 – His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Personal Representative of His Majesty the King and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Environment, praised the royal decree issued by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, announcing the naming of Al Areen Nature Reserve after His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, in celebration of the UAE’s 54th National Day.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasized that this royal decision reflects the deep and enduring brotherly ties between Bahrain and the UAE, as well as the high level of bilateral cooperation across multiple fields. He highlighted the commitment of both leaders, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, to enhancing these distinguished relations and opening new avenues to advance joint initiatives for the benefit of both nations and peoples.

His Highness noted that the renaming of the reserve recognizes Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed’s pioneering efforts in environmental conservation and wildlife protection at regional and international levels. Al Areen Nature Reserve stands as one of Bahrain’s most significant environmental landmarks, and its new designation as “Mohammed bin Zayed Nature Reserve” serves as a catalyst to boost biodiversity preservation programs and develop initiatives aligned with Bahrain’s sustainable development vision.

The reserve hosts diverse local and regional wildlife species and functions as a center for scientific breeding of rare species. It also operates as an educational and research facility supporting national efforts in environmental protection and wildlife conservation, ensuring the safeguarding of natural resources for future generations.
